ABOUT US
Gun Island Outdoors sits on a 1500 acre tract of prime agricultural and timber land. With 4 1/2 miles of frontage on the "Gun Island Chute" section of the Alabama River, it has enormous recreational and hunting potential. Nestled evenly between the cities of Prattville and Montgomery, your group will have access to dining and other cultural experiences, if desired. Travel to and from the hunting preserve is easily accessible by car (I-65 or I-85), or by air (MGM - Dannelly Field). The preserve is located next to Maxwell AFB, and has a fascinating story and historical landmarks related to the addition of the main runway in the 1940's. For several decades, the preserve land was home to a major gravel mining operation. Even though these operations have ceased, the landscape tells the story of mining. Timber production has also been a mainstay of the farm with over 600 acres in pine or hardwoods. These areas have enhanced the hunting potential, and wildlife has flourished in the thick canopies. The current predominant use of the property has been agricultural with the yearly production of over 600 acres cotton, corn and small grains by our family farm, which celebrated its 100th anniversary in 2019. Our family has a long and strong commitment to agriculture, and stewardship of land, animals and wildlife.
In 2005, a 1750 square foot living space with an attached 4500 square foot shop was built. In the following years, a horse barn, tractor barns, and a covered recreational area at the fish pond were added.
